Organize your kitchen by clearing the clutter – Part 21

Cafe & Kitchen

Is your kitchen a mess? Disorganized? Stressing you out? Clutter is stuck, stagnant energy – clear it out and you will feel better, physically, emotionally, mentally.

Here are my tips.

Take two refuse bags; one for things that definitely need throwing away; one for anything that can be given away such as gadgets and appliances you never use.

In another smaller bag, put any paperwork, post-it notes, bills, receipts, photos – whatever has accumulated in drawers or on surfaces. Put that bag in another room to deal with later.

Clean the sink and fill with clean, hot soapy water into which you can deposit anything that’s grimy and needs a soak – cutlery can be soaking while you clean out your kitchen drawer.

What’s on top of your kitchen units? Do these things they look dusty, greasy? Pop them in the sink. (keep topping up the water so it’s clean!)

Clear and clean one surface to use as a resting place for stuff that doesn’t belong here. Make separate piles of these items and put them in the appropriate room.

Throw out any grubby-looking tea-towels and cleaning cloths.

If you have any pet baskets or beds, clean them thoroughly – try one of the many sweet-smelling products available for this purpose.

Empty and clean one kitchen cupboard or cabinet at a time. Take everything out, wash whatever needs cleaning and replace.

Empty all cabinets and cupboards containing utensils, pots and pans and replace in a logical order.

Keeping your kitchen clean – Part 9

Kitchen Utensils

Keeping your kitchen clean can seem a near impossible tasks when every time you use something it seems to make a mess of sorts. When you have children keeping the kitchen clean is even more difficult especially if the children have a tendency to use the kitchen door for access to the outside world. Now never mind the dishes, counter tops and appliances to be kept clean, you have added the occurrence of tiny, muddy little footprints on a regular basis. What ever are you going to do about keeping your kitchen clean now that you don’t have mama there to fall back on?

There is a solution to keeping your kitchen clean that doesn’t have to involve banning everyone from it. When you cook the biggest messes are normally on the stove and in the dishes that you end up having to wash. Do you have a dishwasher that has a decent size load capacity? Load it immediately after you use something that you won’t have a need for in the immediate future. Do you like me still have to do dishes by hand for lack of a dishwasher? While you are cooking or rather prior to it fix a sink of water so you can wash any mixing bowls and utensils as you use them so that you spend less time washing after the fact. Once everything is done and the dishes washed dry them and put them away before you do anything else to ensure that there is Read the rest of this entry

Tips for keeping your kitchen clean when you cook – Part 11

shelagh in the kitchen

The best way to keep your kitchen clean when you cook is to make sure everything is in correct order before beginning a new task such as cooking. For me I have to make sure all my dishes are cleaned, the sink is cleared up, the floors is swept and mopped and stove, and fridge and counter tops are all rid of grease, grime and other things. My family in particular my brother in law is the person responsible for how I clean, manage and organize myself in the household. I cannot enter a kitchen where things are out of place, the best approach is to make sure everything is in structured order that way your mind is clear and you feel good about preparing the food you’re about to serve yourself and others.

Therefore, my advice is to clear the clutter from the table, counters and sink that way your food will be prepared in a clean environment and the food would be a lot more enjoyable when you eat. I also suggest you drape a wet rag over your shoulder, this way any spills will be dealt with swiftly without leaving a stubborn stain later to clean. I do this each time I step into my kitchen I may also add make sure your wet garbage and other recyclables is properly compartmentalized before you begin cooking. I have everything prepared on my counter so I do not have to reach to get things or step away Read the rest of this entry

retro kitchen

Kitchen Appliances have grown from their original oven, fridge and deep freeze beginnings. For instance we now have microwave ovens, indoor grills and food processors to start our cooking experience with. These extra tools in the house can make all the difference between a energy and time consuming feat with tons of dishes left over, and an enjoyable family feast.

Home and kitchen appliances help us live comfortably. Designed with great efficiency, they provide us luxury combined with comfort and style. They have a variety of features, from the most basic to the highly technical. They come in a variety of designs and colors to suit any kitchen decor.

.

Right Tools For Kitchen

Good sharp knives – My favorite knives are Cutco. They cut better than any knife that I have used and I have never had to sharpen them. Good sharp knives will save you lots of time in the kitchen.

Cutting Boards – You’ll probably need more than one of these. This one is great because it has a groove around the edge and a slip resistant bottom that will keep your board in place.

Chopper – This is wonderful for chopping vegetables and nuts. If your family doesn’t like big chunks of vegetables, you’ll love this. I’ve been able to hide lots of vegetables with this handy tool. It also chops carrots well which is almost impossible to do with just a knife.

Bowls – It’s important you get a good set of bowls and Read the rest of this entry

Gaggenau Kitchen Appliances- Oldest Appliance Brand in the World

kitchen

First of all some background on the company: Gaggenau was founded in 1681 by Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden. He established an ironworks in the German town Gaggenau, and named the company after the town. It is both the oldest and widest distributed appliance brand and over the years, Gaggenau expanded into the manufacture of coal-fired cookers and some of the first gas cookers.  But technology has moved on considerably since then and Gaggenau embraced the changes and has been credited as the leader in introducing European convection ovens, the pyrolytic self-cleaning mode, and 36-inch ovens in North America.

Gaggenau’s world headquarters is still located in the city of Gaggenau, Germany to maintain some of the tradition and history of the company. But Gaggenau kitchen appliances are manufactured in several countries across Europe and North America including Lipsheim,

France, Bretten and Dillingen in Germany and Boston in Massachusetts.
Gaggenau has over 550 employees in 50 countries and is currently the only manufacturer that offers a combination steam oven with true convection plus multiple humidity settings in one unit for the home chef.

Gaggenau specialises in cutting-edge built-in home appliances. Its portfolio includes ovens, gas, electric and induction cook- tops, ventilation, dishwashers, modular refrigeration and freezer columns and wine storage units. Gaggenau also produces specialty appliances such as steamers, grills and deep fryers, and the Asian-influenced Teppan Yaki. These are more luxury items and available to customers with a big budget.

Small Kitchen Remodeling

kitchen, during the day / 01

Everybody wants to be a part of it… New York, New York. Being the major global city that it is, NYC has long since been accommodating the urban sprawl. The high costs of acquiring a house and lot brought forth the rise in smaller living units like condos and apartments. Staying in such, you would have to learn to live with limited space but it doesn’t mean that you cannot make a home out of it. Of course you can, and you can start with the most frequented area by remodeling your small kitchen.

Small kitchen remodeling entails many things to consider. Aside from creating a more comfortable and better-looking area out if it, one of the other challenge is maximizing its functionality. Thinking of everything there is to do like selection of the right appliances, design and accessories may seem overwhelming. To ease the frustration of putting this task into action, here are several ideas to help you plan your small kitchen remodeling project:

  • Ease in moving around is an important factor to incorporate in the design of your small kitchen remodeling plan. The ‘work triangle’ is a classic layout that the makes use of the three most utilized features in a kitchen: the refrigerator, sink and stove. This arrangement has long-since proved to help avoid people getting in each other’s way, especially in the process of meal preparation. Other than this layout, another design technique that you can follow is to create more than one Read the rest of this entry

Undermount Stainless Steel Kitchen Sinks

Our kitchen

Kitchen sinks are plumbing fixtures with one, two or three bowls used for cleaning food, dishes or hands.
Sinks come with a faucet that supplies the cold or hot water used to wash things. They also have a drain with a strainers for draining the water or a garbage disposal for shredding food waste. Some sinks can also have a liquid soap dispenser.
Most kitchen sinks today are made of stainless steel, because of the cost, durability and ease of use. The most common stainless steel used in sinks manufacturing is the 304 series stainless steel, with a 18/10 chrome/nickel content. Most common finishes for sinks are brushed finish, satin finish, matte finish and mirror finish.
The two types of installing a kitchen sink are Undermount(bottom-mount) and Topmount(self-rimming). For the topmount installation, the hole is cut into the countertop and the sink will stay suspended by its rim. For the undermount installation, the sink will be mounted under the material by using a set of mounting hardware(clips) and waterproofing the joint between the sink and the countertop with silicone sealants.
Single bowl sinks(a category which also includes bar sinks) are mostly used for small kitchens and bars. Double bowl sinks are the most popular in most modern homes, because of the ease of use they provide. Triple bowl sinks are usually used in a large kitchen or a restaurant.
While installing a kitchen sink seems like an easy job, whether you are remodeling your kitchen or building a home, it Read the rest of this entry

Why a clean kitchen is necessary to safe food preparation – Part 5

How To Be A Cat, Lesson 12: Kitchen Roll

As the old English saying goes – “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” And the English sure did hit the nail on the head, when they said that! There are few things more important than hygiene in ensuring that we live a healthy and fruitful life in this world.

And, when it comes to hygiene, the maximum amount of attention needs to be paid to the food we eat and the methods and the environment in which we prepare it. In fact, it may be said that the health of any family is directly proportional to the cleanliness maintained in the kitchen!

Hygene in the kitchen does not begin and end with washing and cleaning the meat, vegetables and fruits that we use in cooking. It is equally important that the various cooking surfaces and the cooking gear we use are cleaned regularly. For example, no matter well we wash our vegetables if we store them in an unclean refrigerator they are bound to rot faster. Similarly, however well we clean the meat, if the cutting board and knives that we use to slice it are unclean, the meat will spoil.

Wooden spoons and ladles that are used in cooking, tend to accumulate a lot of germs if stored when still wet. They need to be dried completely and replaced frequently. A cutting board is an article that can store a lot of germs and microbes, and needs regular cleaning with hot water.

The kitchen sink is another area to which scant attention is Read the rest of this entry

Keeping your kitchen clean – Part 6

Momoko Kitchen -6

I am far from the queen of kitchen clean, but if I had to pick a few ideal ways I try to to maintain a clean clean, here’s what I’d suggest:

Daily

Wipe up those spills! Overflow the boiling water onto my ceramic cook top? Wipe it right away, especially if it was pasta or a tomato based sauce! Same goes for juice spills, refrigerator catastrophes and anything that could create a scrubbing nightmare on the stove or in the oven later. I also like the idea of wiping down syrup bottles and condiment bottles of drips and grimy lids BEFORE putting them back. Everyday, the kitchen counters and dining area should be wiped with a damp cloth. I try to get into all the crevices the best I can. The floor should also be swept clean each night, a great chore for a child who is eager to help. Most importantly, I try to have everything I took out back to its resting spot before turning in for the night, makes for a much easier morning routine.

Weekly

My weekly routine to ensure a clean kitchen involves more detail work, but is not too grueling, assuming I have been a consistent kitchen cleaner daily (see above). Weekly, I toss old food from the fridge and wipe all the inside shelves clean. All cabinet doors should be wiped and polished depending on their surface. This is also a great time to tidy Read the rest of this entry
