How Can I Remove Sticky Residue From Uplifting Carpet Tiles Stuck On A Kitchen Floor?

Previous homeowner stuck carpet tiles on to kitchen tiles. We removed them and although we cant see any sticky stuff I’m sure its not totally glue free as kitchen floor keeps hold of dirt and grime and always seems to be a bit grubby and a little sticky and dirty. I want a really clean kitchen floor. I’ve tried Jif and hot water, on my hands and knees! Any ideas please?

It depends on the type of tile you have. Is it ceramic? Vinyl Composition (VCT)? Marble? Goo Gone is good for small surfaces, but would be expensive to use across an entire floor. No matter what you do, it’s going to take a lot of elbow grease. You could try a hot air gun and a putty knife or straight razor and/or any crazy cleaners you want, but know your limits. In the end, you sometimes just have to replace the floor.
It’s very important to know what the tile underneath is first. If it’s ceramic you could ruin the tiles with many products. Especially many that were suggested on here already. You won’t be happy if you ruin the tile or the finish on the tile. Know for certain the exact tile you have, than your local hardware store (that sells flooring) will have the perfect glue remover. Then it’s lots and lots of elbow grease. If you don’t know your type of tile, you can call in a floor cleaner to do this for you, he’ll then be responsible if he messes up the tile.
You need a solvent to remove sticky. Try meths, white spirit. Lighter fluid will work if only small areas. Orange based swarfega will also work and you can clean off the slurry with detergent and water.
you can buy this products tht works amazingly almost anywhere
its called goo gone
good luck!
You need to get a solvent that will dissolve the glue. Check out your local hardware store and ask them for some product advice
mineral spirits, WD-40, lacquer thinner, gas, simple green
OMG.,,,,I did this for three days after returning to house from abroad. I used my fish splice and also brillo pads. Its the most awful job there is.
Vinegar or acetone (nail varnish remover) worked for me
Alcohol.
alcohol, windex, or WD-40 which solves all

If you go to the hardware store they should have some, or a similar product.
