Why lemon juice is a handy kitchen cleaner – Part 1

Lemon is a very versatile fruit as well as a cleaner. I love it because it is natural so of course there are no harsh chemicals to inhale, just a nice citrus fresh scent. Lemons can be used in SO many ways! Here are a few of my favorite ways to use lemon around your kitchen as a cleaner.
You can use it to get smells out of your microwave by placing a cup of water and half a lemon inside of it and microwaving it for about 2-3 minutes. It will make it easy to clean off any stuck on food as well as taking any odors out.
Cut about half a lemon into wedges and place it into your garbage disposal and turn it on. It will eliminate any odors that are festering in there.
For odors and stains on your cutting board, first places table salt on the stain and then rub it with a lemon wedge. This not only removes tough stains but odors as well.
It cleans and deodorizes your kitchen sink. you can make a paste consisting of lemon juice and salt and then gently rub into your sink. It will leave it sparkling as well as with a clean scent.
It get stains of your hands. Simply rinse your hands with lemon juice and it will help remove any berry, spaghetti, etc stains right off.
It can remove tarnish from copper or brass by with a paste of salt and lemon juice. Gently scrub after it sets for about 10 minutes and rinse of with warm water. use a lint free cloth to dry and if there are still areas that are tarnished then redo the process.
If you have a smelly refrigerator, then cut a lemon in half and place both halves in different areas inside your fridge. It helps absorb the odor leaving a fresh scent.
Make a solution of water and lemon juice about half a cup to two cups of water, and place it into a spray bottle. Use it to clean your stove, appliances, and counter tops. It really works great as a degreaser and smells fantastic!
These are some great ways to use lemon as a cleaner around your kitchen. Anything that needs a good cleaning and freshening you can try the lemon solution from the spray bottle.
Now that you know lemons are not just great for placing in your iced tea or making fresh lemonade, stock up on them next time you do your grocery shopping!
