The Kitchen Wall Tiles Are Soooo Old, Is There Some Way We Can ‘paint’ Them Or Make Them More Modern?

We rent our house from my partner’s boss and we aren’t able to afford too much – what are our options, any links would be fantastic!

i think you can paint them see my uncle moved into a flat and the tiles were painted black. when he went to sell the flat he bought this stuff to remove it. i dont know any links and thats the only thing i can come up with, without you having to remove them. sorry but im not sure how much it will cost either. go to a paint shop or a hardware store and they should be able to help you out. hope i helped
You can use an epoxy spray paint. The kind you use to paint appliances. It adheres best to tile. First use mineral spirits to clean them to make sure there is nothing on them.

Honestly, I would not paint them. I know they have done this on HGTV a few times, but the truth is, it looks really bad after a very short time. So rather than trying revamp the tiles, I would opt to simply make them less noticeable by blending in walls surrounding them. You don’t really say too much about the decor…except that the tiles are so old…so based on no info, here’s what I would tell you. 1) Clean up the tiles and grout as much as possible. Use Soft Scrub with bleach and let it soak on the grout, then clean with a soft tooth brush. PLEASE NOTE – If the tiles are NATURAL (Not finished/polished) DO NOT USE THE SOFT SCRUB WITH BLEACH!! You will ruin them. Use just plain soft scrub, no bleach. Once cleaned, replace any missing or stained grout.
2) Paint the walls the same prominent color as the tiles. For instance, if the tiles are tan with gray flecks, paint the walls the exact same color tan, as the tiles will feel so much less gaudy and won’t stand out as much. And if you are lucky and the tiles are a neutral color, the wall paint will also make the space feel more contemporary and up to date.
Trust me. I do this for a living. Downplaying ugly, dated decor is what I do every day!! This should make a big difference!! Bet you will like it a lot better. Just make sure to check with the landlord about painting, first!!
