Kitchen Cabinets Ideas:refacing Kitchen Cabinets (paint)?

Most cabinet refacers said that I couldn’t get a painted , glazed “old world – tuscany look” as a kitchen refacing since the surrounding veneer would be costly to match. However the last refacer said that it would look just fine to put the door over the box ( the wood color complements the door) , using the same hinges. Would this look odd? He insists that it would not yet I can’t find questions regarding this approach to save costs and to ultimately get that old world look for your cabinets. Please advise and thank you!

If the boxes do in fact complement the new doors then you are fine to go that way. This is a highly subjective decision, and one that you are best equipped to make.
You could try to apply a paint/glaze finish on the faces of the cabinets to match your new doors, or have a good painter/refinisher do it.
