Kitchen Cabinets Refacing:should I Primer Before Painting?

I am refacing some kitchen cabinets with 1/4″birch . How should I fasten the wood. With nails ,glue or both? Should I primer before painting? Thanks for any help.

, Use yellow carpenters glue and 3/4″ or 5/8″ pin nails. Always use primer (raises the grain of wood), putty nail holes and joints, lightly sand with 200 grit paper (or “scuff pad” from sherwin williams) or from auto supply house. then semi-gloss enamal.
Dawg’s hint-0-tha-day…..if you use existing doors, move hinges up/down 1/2″ because screws might be too short after going thru new skin ur adding. see????
