You should do your cabinets first. I imagine you will be installing base cabinets, and your countertop will be going on top.

That sounds like fun. My guess would be the cabinets first, so you wouldn’t damage the counter tops installing the cabinets.

cabinets 1st, because we had it done with granite 1st and had to add a cabinet and now it looks bad.

If you were to hire a contractor to do it, they would take them all out at the same time and install the cabinets back first and if you are doing it on a time delay then you should reface the cabinets then last do your counter tops.

The cabinets should be done first…although it really doesnt matter as they are in a s ense seperate entities. Doing the cabinets first though will give you a better sense of how you want the countertop to look.

I would definitely reface the cabinets first. That way you can use your countertop to place any tools & supplies on it, stand on it, and not worry if something is spilled on it because you know it will be replaced next anyway. Another thing….sometimes cabinets look different in your kitchen than they do in the bright lights of a showroom. You will have a better feel if the countertop you initially picked out is truly the one you want based on how the cabinets look with your wall color, floor color and natural lighting.
