I suggest you look for another property, if not.. you’ll just have to work with what you’ve got. It doesn’t matter if the fridge is at the side and looks stupid (it’s happened to me before), what matters is that you get your money’s worth.
It sounds like a house that isn’t thoughtout very properly and most probably contains other faults.
Not knowing where to put the fridge would not be my main cause of concern if i’m ONLY renting. You don’t have the rights to relocate the kitchen anyway.
So just do what the old lady did.
Having a small kitchen is the worst when looking for good property.
But ultimately what you can do is buy one of those freezers that you can flip open from the top and place it in the garage. And place a small fridge wherever else suitable in the home. It’s better that way because you won’t be needing the freezer as much as the fridge and it won’t make the area look awkward.

Get a fridge/freezer with a removable front panel to match your decor.

There are some super quiet fridge freezers available. That would be my first priority (assuming that the fridge freezer doesn’t come with the property). Then perhaps just something as simple as a screen to hide/disguise it.

The room you wish to use as the Dining room is the larger and is nearest the kitchen?
That makes sense to me – saves carrying food through one room into the other.
With freezers – you have the choice of chest type or upright and I would think – upright would be best as this impacts less on floor space.
If you have a choice – then try and get fridge and freezer to match in height.
Then the rest is really budget and
inspiration dependant and what else dictates the layout of the room.
Placeing one against a wall near a corner and the other on the adjacent wall a bit away is good as that then forms a corner with a
gap betwwen the two – which you can then use – small table like coffee table size with plant – lamp
etc.
When I did up my sister’s house she was in the same situation
so I got nice fabric and pasted this to the fridge and freezer – a small table to each side minimises the bulky appearance.
It looked really good when finished and yes it is not every ones idea but you have to make the best of what you have.
and if the house is ok otherwise
then go with it.
