Minimum Distance From Counter To Island In Kitchen?

For my design project, I’m designing a U-shaped kitchen. I plan to put a island in the middle. The island is 2×3 feet. The distance from counter to island is 3 feet(36 inches) on 3 sides. Do you think this would be too tight? I can’t make the space bigger without making the island smaller(can’t move the walls).

well think of it like this. 3 feet is one yard right? well get one out! in my opinion that’s REALLY small walkway. it’s like you turn around and its RIGHT THERE. no room to move. i don’t’ know what kind of room you have but have you tried instead of a U shape to go with like a G shape? (without the curve in) like make one end an extended counter top in word (but parallel to the other end) and higher like a breakfast nook? that will give you more space to prepare and entertain! good luck!
Too tight. This is bumper pool distance and a one person kitchen. Possible to fit in a peninsula instead?
We have an Island in our kitchen which 4 ft. from the sink counter, 4ft. from the wall microwave and wall oven. The other two sides are 8 ft. away from the window/nook area. The forth side is about 5 ft. away from the patio sliding door.
I would say a minimum of 4 ft. If you can handle 5 ft., I would. Remember that if you have a dishwasher on a wall counter, when you open it’s door, you want it to easily clear and also allow someone to be able to get by it.
36 inches to 50 feet
i dont know wtf im saying right now
2 people standing in between face to face without touching eachother would be best
three feet
