Ok, first of all I have a small kitchen and a small budget. My house is very old and the last time the kitchen was remodeled looks like some time in the 50-60s. I just bought stainless steel appliances for the kitchen, to replace the non-working olive green 70s era ones, so there is like no money left. The cabnets are painted white, which are fine for now. The counter top is white with pink flake in the design, eww! The backsplash is all bright pink tiles. The walls are yellow. Since it will be a few years before I can remodel, and this is my first home, I would like any suggestion of a masculine color to paint the wall the would maybe make it not so bad. I was thinking a chocolate brown? Any inputs? A $20 gallon of paint has got to be better than this ugly color scheme. Thanks for any help
I have a moderately small kitchen and i want to reface the cabinets. I was thinking white would look best so it would make the kitchen look bigger, but i really want to do a cherry/oak finish. Would that make the room look too small, and is it out of style to have white cabinets? 10pts for best answer! Thx
We have an old kitchen floor (linoleum) and no matter what I do or what I clean it with, it always seems old and gross. Aside from it being old, there always seems to be an icky film over it, and when I’m done I always notice spots that look like they could be cleaner.
So if you were going to make your kitchen floor the cleanest (I’m planning on moving stuff and cleaning everywhere) what would you use as far as cleaners, mop, brushes, etc., and what would be your method for going about doing it?
So how do you go about finding the right contactor? Let’s say you want a new kitchen in Brooklyn. First you ask around for any recommendations for a home renovation contractor. Once you have a few companies to pick from call them all. Ask for a quote. If anyone is willing to give you a quote over the phone without checking out the job in person, take them off the list. A professional contractor asked to build a new kitchen in Brooklyn is going to want to check out the existing kitchen. They will take a look at what the job is going to entail before giving a price range.?
Make sure you are very clear and consistent in what you expect. This means knowing what you want in the new kitchen layout, material to be used and when you need it done by. The information you provide is what the quote will be based on. If you are not exact and consistent there will be differences in the quotes. Ask about permits. Contact the municipality about needing permits for the construction you want done. If they say you need them but a home renovation contractor tells you different take them off the list. If they are going to cut corners they don’t want permits or any inspections.
Once you have the quotes for a new kitchen in Brooklyn do you pick the lowest one that can meet your timeline? No. You have to find out why the quotes are different. Who is going to be working on your kitchen? Is one lower because the labour is going to be contracted out and one higher because an experienced specialist is going to be doing the work? Will lower quality material will be used compared to another quote. Ask questions, compare answers. Go with the home renovation contractor that offers the best quality work for your budget, not just the cheapest.
Sometimes to get the kitchen you want it is not a case of renovations but actual adding to the house. If that is the case then you want a house extension Brooklyn NY contractor. When looking for the right house extension Brooklyn NY contractor you should also ask around for recommendations. Then go through the same process of getting quotes and comparing them. When changing the structure or getting a house extension Brooklyn NY permits are not an option they are a requirement. If any contractor tells you that you don’t need a permit don’t deal with them. They are trying to hid something an inspector would catch. It is more important and safe to make sure you are dealing with a reputable company than saving a few dollars.

I am remodeling my bathroom and kitchen and I need to find contemporary, stylish, modern, artistic, creative, sinks, bathtubs, vanities, pedestals, floor tiling, lighting, etc…
Please help!
I have two kitchen cabinets. One is under the counter top and the other under the sink. Both have floors made of some type of wood that has gone bad over the years, it was there when I moved in. They look like they got wet and feel damp sometimes. The parts that are dry feel velvety and when I use my duster I can brush some of it off. I don’t know what this kind of damage is called. I just want to repair it and changing all the cabinets would not be worth it. We rent and we will be moving soon.
We want to repair them in a way that can isolate the whole cabinet under the sink and counter top as if we had installed new cabinets.
I hope I have been clear, not sure how to explain it better.
Thanks
I’m looking to add kitchen cabinet hardware/handles to horizontal drawers and I’ve seen them placed in various positions. I’ve seen them most frequently dead center and above center (for lower drawers). I’m guessing dead center is the way to go but I’m curious if anyone else has a different take. Thanks!
