there was an advertisement that showed a picture of a kitchen that was built in a hexagon shape with tall ceilings with copper design elements with an through bar feel. i cannot remember the magazine, but it would have to be American ARchitecture or Better Homes and Gardens, albeit, it may be an older publication. PLEASE HELP< I WANT THAT KITCHEN!!!

That’ll be tough to find if you don’t remember the magazine name. You can go to google, click on the search images button, then type in the word kitchen and all these photos of kitchens will pop up. Try hexagon kitchen.

Are you a design student?

I think Ikea might have a kitchen design program you can download for free, but you can only use Ikea products in it. You could also download Google SketchUp and model the kitchen that way, but there’s a bit of a learning curve if you’re not familiar with 3D modeling software.

If you have a small kitchen, you understand the frustration of trying to fit everything that you need into a tiny space. You may watch cooking shows on television and drool over the wide countertops and spacious floor space. But with the right planning and a few clever tricks, your small kitchen can feel larger and more spacious than it really is.

1.Increase your work spaces

Kitchens are one of the only rooms in the house, save the garage, where you need to stand and get some work done. Work spaces like cutting boards and counter space can be prime real estate in a kitchen. There are a few different ways you can increase your workspace without losing standing space.

You can have additional cutting boards installed in your cabinets, if you have the room and the budget. Alternatively, you can invest in a large cutting board to cover half of the burners on your stove. When these burners aren’t in use, the cutting board makes an excellent prep space for cooking on the other burners. People vary rarely use all four burners at once anyway.

2.Solve storage problems

Storage is one of the most important issues that small kitchen owners face. There are so many appliances, dishes and cooking tools that need to be placed into a kitchen that it seems like there is never enough room. If you are remodeling your small kitchen, be sure to incorporate corner cabinets with Lazy Susans so you can make the most of your space and still be able to reach it all.

If you aren’t doing any extensive remodeling in your kitchen, there are still other organizational tools you can use to increase your space. First, consider what you can store outside of the kitchen area. You can use a cabinet in the hallway or in another room to store large appliances you seldom use, dishes that you only bring out for special occasions and other items you don’t need on a daily basis. This will free up your kitchen storage for items that you have to have on hand frequently.

3.Decorate to make the space look larger

Sometimes just a fresh coat of paint and a few decorating accents will make your space look twice as large. First, dark colors are a no-no for your small kitchen. Dark colors on the walls and the cabinets make your kitchen look small and cave-like. White and other light neutral colors are the best choices for making your space look larger. Consider adding a large mirror on one wall of your kitchen. The reflection will add more light into your space and it will also make the room look bigger.

If you have an eat-in kitchen, choose your dining set very carefully. Select a smaller sized table that will give you more room to walk around in the kitchen. You small table can also be pulled over to add extra prep space.

Whether you incorporate just one of these techniques or all of them, you’ll see an immediate impact on the space you have in your kitchen.

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her Macaroni and Cheese Deluxe. This is one of several versions of Macaroni and Cheese that you will find in bettyskitchen. This version is especially tasty, with the sauce made of cottage cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, eggs, and seasonings. It is my son-in-law’s favorite of all of my Macaroni and Cheese recipes! Ingredients: 8-oz. package elbow macaroni, uncooked 2 cups cottage cheese (small curd) 8-oz. carton sour cream 1 egg, well beaten ½ to ¾ teaspoon salt (I used ¾ teaspoon salt in the video, and thought it would have been better with a little less.) dash of ground black pepper 2cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese cooking oil spray (for baking dish) paprika, optional (for topping) Cook 8-oz. macaroni, according to package instructions. (I added 1 teaspoon salt to the boiling water.) Drain macaroni when done. In the meantime, combine 2 cups cottage cheese, an 8-oz. carton sour cream, 1 well-beaten egg, ½ to ¾ teaspoon salt, a dash of black pepper, and 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese in a large bowl. Add cooked and drained macaroni to cheese sauce and stir mixture until well-combined. Spoon macaroni mixture into a 9-inch by 12-inch by 2-inch baking dish, which has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Bake at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes, or until bubbly and beginning to brown. Serve immediately! Yum! I hope you enjoy this recipe! –Betty ?

Are pendant lights okay in a small kitchen with no table and no island?
I am remodeling my kitchen and not sure on the lighting. It is a fairly small kitchen with no island or table. I am thinking of doing recessed can lights but also would like something decorative in the center of the room. I like the pendant lights but don’t know if they will okay not hanging over a counter, island or table.

They are usually meant to light something below them…you know. Task lighting. If there is nothing underneath them such as an island or a peninsula or a table, then you don’t have that. Also don’t put them so low that you bonk your head on them, usually pendent lights are over something that prevents you from walking into them. Same hazard with a pot rack!

However you can use pendants to draw the eye up if you want to show off something pretty on the ceiling, of if you want to make the room seem taller.

Use armstrong cushion step vinyl in a tile pattern. don’t do any floor prep and don’t use the full spread method. Cheapest best way.
Don’t do ceramic right on top of the vinyl flooring. not a good idea there because in order to lay tile you have to have 1 and 1/4 of flooring more than likely you don’t have that and I don’t recommend putting tile on top of vinyl anyway. however they do have a thinset you can use to put tile right on top of plywood. so you could buy a flooring underlayment and that special thinset and tile.
but don’t shop at lowes or home depot.

I have paid only for materials up front and then have made staged payments during the work. Always demand at least 10% be retained by you once the job is finished and only when you are satisfied do you release that last payment. Once the job is finished give the work a thorough check and if there are things that you are not happy with get the company back in and explain what is wrongs and that you’ll only pay the last 10% once they are fixed. if they refuse to fix the problems, you retain the money and get someone else in to fix the problems. Make sure you have enough retained.

As for paying as you go along, I’d be tempted to get their project plan and link payments to the major stages, then you have something to compare the costs against.

Most electrical contractors charge a minimum of $ 350-$ 600 per job. If the electrical breaker box is near the kitchen then the minimum charge may cover the whole job. If wires need to be run a long way to get to the kitchen, then the charge could be much more.
